Thrissur: Congress MP T.N Prathapan said that he would accept the party’s decision with open arms. He was reacting to the news that K. Muraleedharan might replace him as the candidate in Thrissur for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. In politics, mere organisational strength would not be enough and at times intelligent moves would be more effective, he said.
His response comes in the wake of the reports that the list of congress candidates for the elections would be announced on Friday.
Party leaders had said that there would be surprises in the list of candidates , after the Congress central election committee meeting on Thursday. The speculations regarding the arrival of Murali at Thrissur gains upperhand in this scenario.
“AICC leadership had checked all possibilities while selecting the list of candidates. The leaders have been holding discussions with me since Thursday morning. Making decisions depending on the context is what makes the decision wise. If you hit your opponent, hit hard and at the right moment. There will be no compromises as far as the BJP and the RSS Sangh Parivar are concerned,” Prathapan said.
It is noted that the candidate change in Thrissur comes after Congress leader late K Karunakaran’s daughter Padmaja Venugopal joined the BJP on Thursday.
